How Do I Become a Christ Follower?
Following Jesus Christ is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. The Bible teaches that God created a perfect world in which man would have fellowship with Him. Adam & Eve disobeyed God, which the Bible calls sin, & there were consequences for their sin. They were cast out of the Garden of Eden, out of the presence of God, & would suffer death.
But God didn’t give up on His creation. He called a people to Himself, Israel, to be His people & for Him to be their God. But Israel strayed from God time & again. God sent prophets to call them to repent & return. Finally, God sent His Own Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus came to seek & to save that which was lost. He lived a perfect life, without sin–something that we are incapable of doing. He was arrested, beaten, & killed on the cross at Calvary. His death was not to pay for His own sin because He was sinless. His death was a substitute for you & for me. His death is the payment for our sin.
Jesus didn’t remain in the grave. On the 3rd day, He arose from the dead as the conqueror of sin, death, Satan, & hell! He offers to us life through His death & resurrection. We must respond to this free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ by placing our faith in what He did. We cannot earn salvation through good works or any other means. Jesus did all of the work on the cross. Our response is to repent, or turn away from our sin, & put our faith in Jesus to forgive us & cleanse us from sin. The Bible teaches that, “All who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
